Proyecto Matria, Miraflores

For the Foundation, embracing, helping and rebuilding
is the spirit that guides organizations in their communities.
Let's make it ours and reinvent the Puerto Rico we want.

The Fundación Ángel Ramos (FAR) contributed $200,000 to the FORWARD Puerto Rico Fund, thus participating in launching this newly created fund by the Puerto Rico Funders Network to support the non-governmental organizations (NGO´s) which render services to the communities affected by Hurricane María.

Also, as part of the FAR task after the hurricane, it made a donation to the Puerto Rican Chapter of the American Red Cross to cover the expenses of their response to those affected by María in the Island and lent it the second floor of the Fundación Ángel Ramos Building for it to accommodate the Red Cross headquarters during the emergency, since their own facilities had been rendered unsuitable for business.

In order to ensure the operations of the 13 organizations that serve vulnerable populations, the Foundation acquired and distributed 10,000 gallons of diesel fuel to run their electric generators. Over the next weeks, they will expand these deliveries to organizations beyond the metropolitan area.

In addition, it aproved a special appropiation for over 90 FAR grantee organizations Island-wide which offer essential services to vulnerable populations during the emergency. The grants range between $3,000 and $5,000, depending on the size of the NGO and its needs. FAR is verifying their compelling needs through field visits.

Our commitment in the Fundación Ángel Ramos is to support the management of non-profit organizations to improve the living conditions of Puerto Ricans. Aware of the fragile situation of the country because of Hurricane Maria, today, more than ever, we want the Third Sector to have our support. The ADELANTE Puerto Rico Fund is an investment in that direction.
